Ridgely’s Delight Association (RDA)March community meeting

There will be an online community meeting on Wednesday, March 3, at 7 pm.

Ridgely’s Delight is a historic neighborhood in a CHAP district and exterior work on your home requires CHAP approval. At our March meeting, there will be an informal presentation by the neighborhood’s Architectural Review Committee, explaining how that works and answering your questions.

Anyone who lives, works, or owns property in Ridgely’s Delight is welcome, but preregistration for this Zoom event will be required. Sign up through the neighborhood website.

March street sweeping dates

Automatic street sweeping has been canceled until further notice. If you’re able to help, please take a moment and clean in front of your house.
Trash will be picked up every Wednesday.
Recycling will be picked up every Friday.

Orioles home season starts April 8

The Baltimore Orioles have announced their 2021 schedule. They open on the road in Boston on April 1, and will have their first home game in Camden Yards on Thursday, April 8. Unfortunately, game tickets are not for sale to the public at this time. Hopefully that will change as the season progresses.

Pigtown Community Garden — membership is open for 2021 season

The Pigtown Community Garden is a communal concept garden (ie. no plots) located at 1425 W. Ostend St. The season begins March 14, 2021. If you are interested in becoming a member, visit their Facebook page (@pigtowncommunitygarden) or email Shira Goodman (pigtowngarden@gmail.com) for information.

Baltimore’s history, five minutes at at time

For the last ten months, Baltimore Heritage has been recording “Five Minute Videos” twice a week. Each one features a different historic place in the City. These videos are available on their YouTube channel.

City Lit Festival at the Pratt Library

This year’s Festival is a month-long engagement with premier poets and writers with special events each week and a daylong event on March 20, featuring a reading and audience Q&A with Nikky Finney. See the Pratt Library’s website for a complete schedule of the festival and other free events.

Strong market seen for new and renovated homes in Baltimore City

A new study commissioned by Live Baltimore has concluded that up to 7,100 new or renovated homes could be occupied annually in Baltimore. The study demonstrates that the City’s residential housing market is strong, and new or rehabbed homes are needed to meet the preferences of the potential market. Baltimore to DC in 15 minutes?

There’s a proposal for a 300 mph superconducting Maglev train, to run between Baltimore and Washington. They have released an environmental impact study and are currently seeking public input.
