March Community Meeting

Join us for a community meeting on Wednesday, March 6, at 7:30 pm on the second flooor of Pickles Pub. Our special guest speaker is Shawn Herne, the director of the Babe Ruth Birthplace Museum. Come hear about exciting new developments at the museum and explore our neighborhood's rich baseball history.

It's a great opportunity to connect with your neighbors and learn more about our community. We look forward to seeing you there. If you are unable to attend in person, you can join us online. Login details will be posted on the Ridgely’s website.

Baseball Returns to Camden Yards

Orioles Opening Day is early this year. The first game of the season is at 3 pm on Thursday, March 28. That's always a very exciting day in our neighborhood. Please note that there will be some street closures for special events and our 'stadium event' parking restrictions will be in effect. Follow Ridgely's Delight on Facebook for announcements.

Neighborhood Happy Hour

Calling all Ridgely's Delight neighbors. Join us for our March neighborhood happy hour at Caribbean Dynasty at 647 West Pratt St, on Friday, March 8. Mingle with your neighbors and enjoy drink specials and delicious Caribbean treats.

Stay for dinner! Caribbean Dynasty's full menu will be available for you to savor authentic island flavors.

New to the neighborhood? This is the perfect opportunity to meet your friendly neighbors. Don't miss out on the fun.

Annual Tot Lot Egg Hunt

The neighborhood will once again host an Easter egg hunt in the tot lot. This will be held on Easter Sunday (March 31). All children who frequent the tot lot are invited. The cost is free, however, you must RSVP to EGladd@yahoo.com before March 22. Please share your kids’ ages when you RSVP.

The gates will open at 9:45 am sharp for kids 4 and under.  5 and 6-year-olds will be allowed in at 9:55 and 7+ after 10 am. Show up a few minutes early and wait for the gates to open. Once again, we will have an under 2 section. If your kid just wants to find a few easy ones and then sit in the grass, this section is for you.

For more details see the community website.

A Note from The Babe Ruth Birthplace

When we hear the words “Happy New Year” most people think of fireworks, partying with friends, and days off from work. And for baseball fans that is true, too…just not on December 31st.

The Babe Ruth Birthplace has been celebrating Opening Day on Emory Street since 1992. Our annual gathering is a time to reconnect with our members and friends, celebrate the new baseball season and unveil new exhibits for the coming year. But it is also a time to shed the darkness of winter and celebrate the bright future ahead.

For Ridgely’s Delight, we hope Opening Day is a positive experience despite the temporary inconvenience of closing Emory Street (between Pratt and Dover will remain open). The museum, as always, promises to keep the streets clean (did you know we clean Emory and parts of Portland daily), help clear our public spaces of homeless encampments, and serve as a neighborhood advocate to the City of Baltimore, BGE, and the University of Maryland. After all, we are not just a business in the neighborhood but a member of the community as well.

So “Happy New Year” Ridgely’s Delight! Let’s do what we can to celebrate a new baseball season and make it safe and enjoyable for everyone.

—Shawn Herne, Executive Director, The Babe Ruth Birthplace
