June 2021 Community Meeting
Type of meeting:
Community
Meeting date:
Wednesday, June 2, 2021
Status:
DRAFT
Welcome
Approval of the May minutes.
- Discussed the possibility of uploading the meeting zoom recordings in the future in place of the minutes. It was decided that that would be too much to go through.
Upcoming events
- Next community dumpster will be on June 26. Al thanked everyone that helped on the last one, plus the crew that weeded and cleaned the Tot Lot.
- There will be a neighborhood happy hour at Pickles, on June 11
Trash in alleyway at 207 S. Fremont
- Al thanked Deb O’Neal for getting the Sailcloth Factory to clean up their part
- Questions as to who currently owns the property
- Discussion on why Zahlco seems to have pulled out
Next community meeting
- There will not be a community meeting in July.
- Al would like to explore holding future meetings in person. Suggested Pickles, the Tot Lot or Conway Park
- It was suggested that we could maybe use the tent behind the Babe Ruth Museum. Farzana says that if we do it there, we should pay them for it
- Megan asked if the association had ever purchased a personal PA system. It was determined that no one had and that we should.
National Nights Out
- Sharon said that the event would be held on the first Tuesday in August and it traditionally replaces the August community meeting
Movies in the park
- Megan asked if we could do a movie in Conway Park this summer
- Bill said that the last couple of times that that was done, it was under the Rec and Park’s ‘Rhythm and Reels’ program. That had been largely funded by the South Baltimore Gateway Partnership and was cut this year due to COVID
- We could borrow equipment from Debbie Brain, but we’d need a generator
Committee reports
Parking
- PACB opened last week.
- There is pent up demand for permits throughout the city
- Steve Robinson, from PABC, will speak at a future meeting about the Virtual Permit Parking program
South Baltimore Gateway Partnership
- The casinos are making money again and so SBGP has surplus funds
- Most of that extra money will go into large projects at three city parks, including Carroll Park
Architectural Review Committee
- Three committee members attended a community forum at CHAP
- Paul apologized for not making the review process more transparent
- Paul stated that ARC did not resist the Pratt Street project
Meeting adjourned
